Modak

A mixture of coconut and jaggery in wheat flour

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cup Coconut grated
  • 1 1/2 cup Jaggery grated
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • Water As reqd
  • Oil As reqd
  • Modak dye(optional)

Instructions
 

  • Knead a dough out of the wheat flour adding required salt and water.
  • Mix together coconut, jaggery and cardamom. Keep this aside.
  • Make small balls out of the dough and using your finger on the palm roll into medium thin puri.
  • Fill with the mixture. Close it in upward direction just like a bunch of garlic in shape.
  • Steam it for 20 mins. Modak is ready. Serve hot.
