Split Yellow Peas(Moong Dal) Khichidi

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Split yellow peas Moong dal
  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 1 cup Peas, cauliflower, beans, carrot all together
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 no Tomato chopped
  • 1 no Onion chopped
  • 1 spring Coriander chopped
  • 3 1/2 cups Water
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing moong dal khichidi, heat oil in a cooker and splutter cumin seeds.
  • Add in onion and saute it till it becomes translucent.
  • Now add in the chopped tomato and fry it.
  • Toss in the vegetables(peas, cauliflower, beans and carrot) and rice. Fry it for 1 minute on low flame.
  • Sprinkle turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt. Add 3 1/2 cup water and let it boil without lid.
  • When it starts boiling, add in ghee and coriander leaves. Close the cooker lid and allow it to cook on high flame. Allow it to cook for 3 whistles.
  • Moong dal khichidi is ready. Serve with curd or cucumber salad.
