Chettinad Style Mutton

Spicy mutton curry in nice masala

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Mutton
  • 20 nos Shallots Kunjulli
  • 8 nos Dry chillies
  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 no Bay leaf Karuga ela
  • 2 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 2 nos Cinnamon sticks Karugapatta
  • 1/2 tsp Khus khus
  • 1 tsp Meat masala
  • 1 piece Ginger chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic chopped
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Coconut oil As reqd
  • 2 nos Tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing chettinad style mutton, heat ghee in a pan, add little oil also.
  • Add bay leaves, khus khus, cinnamon, cloves and mutton. Fry well for 10 minutes.
  • In another pan, pour little oil. Fry cumin seeds, shallots, dry chillies, ginger and garlic.
  • Crush the onion mixture(do not make paste).
  • After 10 minutes of frying mutton, add the crushed onion. Fry well. Add tomato and fry well.
  • When it becomes soft, add coriander and turmeric powder. Add required salt.
  • Add hot water and cover with a lid.
  • Cook the mutton.
  • When done, add the meat masala and curry leaves. Drain excess water and make semi masala.
  • Chettinad style mutton is ready.
