Simple Fish Masala

Fish in a thick onion tomato gravy

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Fish white pomfret
  • 2 nos Onions sliced thin
  • 1 inch Ginger chopped
  • 2 nos Green chillies split lengthwise
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 nos Tomatoes sliced thinly
  • Curry leaves i sprig
  • 2 tbsp Oil – 1
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Clean fish and cut into large pieces.
  • In a frying pan, add oil and sautT the onions, ginger and green chillies.
  • Add curry leaves and stir well. Add chilly powder and turmeric powder and fry well till raw smell disappears.
  • Now add the tomatoes, water, salt and the fish.
  • Cover and cook till the water has dried and the fish is coated with the masala.
  • Garnish with curry leaves or chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice or chappathis.
