Sambar Pongal - Sambar Rice
Sambar Pongal, Variety type of pongal cooked with raw rice and vegetables.

- 200 g Raw rice
- 100 g Toovar dal Tuvara parippu
- 50 g Carrot
- 2 nos Drum stick
- 2 nos Potato
- Tamarind lemon size
- 1 cup Coconut grated
- 5 nos Red chillies
- 2 tsp Chana dal kadalaparippu
- 2 tsp Coriander seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt As reqd
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
For preparing sambar pongal, wash toovar dal and raw rice in water.
Cut carrot, potato and drumstick into small pieces.
Grind coconut, red chillies, chana dal, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
Soak tamarind in water and squeeze it out to make tamarind water.
Add toovar dal, rice and vegetables into tamarind water.
Add turmeric powder and salt.
Cook the item in pressure cooker.
Fry mustard seeds and curry leaves in coconut oil and add to the mixture.
Sambar pongal - Sambar Rice is ready.
