Fish Curry With Coconut

A tasty fish curry prepared with ground coconut and other ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg King fish
  • 1 cup Coconut grated
  • 10 nos Shallots Kunjulli
  • 5 nos Green chillies
  • 2 tsp Ginger roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup Curry leaves
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Coconut oil As reqd
  • 1 cup Tamarind water

Instructions
 

  • For preparing fish curry with coconut, first clean and cut the fish. Wash, drain and keep aside.
  • Roughly grind shallots, ginger and green chillies. Keep aside.
  • Grind coconut, 1/4 cup curry leaves, coriander powder, chilly powder, turmeric powder and cumin seeds. Keep this aside.
  • Heat oil in mann chatti(clay pot), splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Add the roughly ground shallots and remaining curry leaves.
  • Fry for few minutes. Add the ground coconut mixture and saute well.
  • When the oil starts to come out, add fish pieces, salt and tamarind water.
  • Allow the fish to cook.
  • After the fish is cooked and the gravy becomes thick consistency, remove from flame.
  • Pour 2 tsp coconut oil on top. Cover it with a lid and serve hot after 5 minutes with cooked rice.
