Cyprinus(Carp Fish) With Raw Mango

Cyprinus is common Indian carp widely cultured in fresh water ponds, is called Bangaru teega, bangarupaapa and etc in different parts of Andhra Pradesh. Select medium size fish, each weighing 1/2 kg

Ingredients
  

  • 4 nos Cyprinus Carp Fish
  • 2 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 cup Coconut milk
  • 1 cup Onion pieces
  • 8 nos Green Chillies split
  • 3 nos Raw sour mangoes large
  • 10 nos Garlic bulbs
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 300 ml Refined oil
  • Salt As reqd

For Spicy Taste:

  • 4 inch Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Poppy seeds Kasahakasha
  • 8 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 8 nos Cardamom Elakka
  • 1 cup Onion pieces
  • 1/2 cup Coconut pieces
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 4 nos Dry red chillies

Instructions
 

  • Remove the scales and fins of the fish. Remove visceral parts. Wash the fishes with salt and water thoroughly. Cut them into round pieces. Apply turmeric powder, some salt and one spoon red chilly powder to the fish pieces. Keep them aside.
  • Prepare spicy paste by grinding all the ingredients for spicy paste.
  • Peel the mangoes and cut into thin slices.
  • Add oil to a deep bottomed pan and heat. Fry the onion pieces till dark brown. Add slightly mashed garlic bulbs, lengthwise split green chillies and the spicy paste. Fry till the raw smell of spicy paste is gone.
  • Add the mango slices and remaining one spoon of red chilly powder and cook until the mango slices become smooth.
  • Add the fish pieces and turn all the contents up and down gently and carefully so that the fish pieces do not get damaged.
  • Add the coconut milk and enough salt and turn the contents again carefully.
  • Add water and simmer in medium flame until the contents are well done.
  • Serve hot with rice.
