Cook yellow split peas with turmeric powder, salt and water.
Heat oil in pan, splutter mustard seeds, dry red chilllies. Add onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves, fenugreek and asafoetida. saute well until golden brown in color.
Add chopped tomato saute until tomato is cooked.
Add yellow split peas and chopped chopped coriander leaves.
