Podiyarisi Pongal V Brahmin Special

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Broken raw rice
  • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp Urad dal
  • 4 nos Thairumolagu
  • 3 tbsp Gingelly oil
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Tamarind lemon sized ball
  • Asafoetida powder A pinch, Kayam
  • 3 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat gingelly oil, splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add thairumolagu and fry again.
  • Put this fried item in a pressure pan and add curry leaves.
  • Soak tamarind in water and squeeze out water.
  • Make 2 cups of tamarind water.
  • Add tamarind water to the pan.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida to pan.
  • When the mixture gets boiled, add rice and pressure cook it.
  • For better taste, groundnut may also be added while doing the 1st step.
  • Podiyarisi pongal v brahmin special, a tasty breakfast is ready.
