Elissery - Brahmin Special

Elephant yam, raw banana and other ingredients are cooked with grated coconut

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 kg Elephant yam Chena
  • 2 nos Raw banana Nendrakka
  • 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Pepper powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 cup Coconut grated
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 4 tbsp Coconut oil

Instructions
 

  • For preparing elissery - brahmin special, cut and wash elephant yam and raw banana and cook and boil this in cooker by adding enough water, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, pepper powder and salt.
  • Grind the grated coconut(1 cup only) and jeerakam with enough water.
  • Add the ground item to the 1st step item and boil for sometime.
  • Fry mustard seeds and urad dal in coconut oil. Then add the remaining 1/2 cup grated coconut and fry this till the mixture turns brown.
  • Add this 4th step item to the 3rd step mixture.
  • Add curry leaves.
  • Elissery - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
