Morukoottan - Brahmin Special

Cucumber with buttermilk, coconut and other ingredients are cooked together

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Cucumber Vellirikka
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 cups Coconut grated
  • 6 nos Green chillies
  • 1 small Jaggery Sharkara
  • 1 cup Buttermilk slightly soured
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • 1 no Red chilly
  • 2 tsp Coconut oil
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing morukootan - brahmin special, wash cucumber after cutting into small pieces and boil it with sufficient quantity of water and add turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside.
  • Grind the grated coconut with green chillies with sufficient quantity of water.
  • Add the ground coconut mixture to the previously cooked cucumber and boil for few minutes in low heat. Add jaggery to this.
  • Add soured buttermilk.
  • Cook for sometime. This mixture will get foam after sometime. Do not boil this. When the foam comes stop cooking.
  • Fry mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and red chilly and add this to the cooked mixture.
  • Add curry leaves.
  • Morukootan - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
