Beef Vindaloo

Beef cubes marinated in a thick paste of vinegar, mustard,garlic, other ingredients and later cooked till done

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Boneless beef cubed, washed and drained
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 2 nos Potato cube shaped
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 no Onion chopped, small
  • 1 no Onion sliced
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 no Garlic pods
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek Uluva
  • 2 cups Hot water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd
  • Curry leaves Few

Instructions
 

  • First grind ingredients: onion and garlic in your mixer. Grind the spices in a spice grinder: mustard seeds, ginger, turmeric, chilly powder, coriander powder, fenugreek and add to above onion mixture.
  • Add enough vinegar and blend onion mixture to a thick paste.
  • Marinate the dried beef cubes in this paste and keep aside for 2 hours.
  • Heat ghee in a hard bottomed pan and fry sliced onion till dark brown in color. kepp aside. Fry beef pieces in the same oil till all the water evaporates and it becomes golden brown.
  • Now add the hot water, stir and cook covered in low flame till the beef is done. Add fried onion and curry leaves. Make it a dry masala.
  • Beef vindaloo, an apt dish with chappathis/roti is ready. Serve hot and enjoy.
