Fish-Machhli Gravy

Fish/machhli gravy is prepared by cooking fish pieces in curry mixture and other ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Fish slices
  • 1 no Onion chopped
  • Ginger minced
  • 1/2 cup Shallots minced, Kunjulli
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 2 nos Tomato finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp Fish curry powder Eastern fish masala
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind pulp
  • Oil As reqd
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • First mix together tamarind paste, fish curry powder, chopped tomato, turmeric powder and required salt. Blend into a nice paste by adding some water. Keep this aside.
  • Roughly grind together shallots, ginger and green chillies.
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter fennal seeds. sautT onion,ground onion paste and curry leaves.
  • When the frying smell comes, add the previously ground curry powder mixture and keep frying until raw smell leaves.
  • Stir in fish slices and cook in low heat until the fish curry starts thickening. Remove pan from fire. 5)Serve hot the fish gravy with rice.
