Tomato Chutney In Maharashtrian Style

Chopped tomato cooked with jaggery, garlic, garam masala and other ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 1 no Tomato chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 no Onion chopped, small
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/2 tsp Jaggery/Sugar
  • 3 nos Curry leaves – 2
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted peanut powder
  • Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • First heat oil in a pan, fry onion, garlic, cumin seeds, jaggery, chilly powder and tomatoes.
  • Grind the mixture when it cools.
  • Heat tawa, splutter mustards seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add garam masala and ground paste and stir for a few minutes.
  • Add little water and salt. Mix well and add roasted peanut powder. Cook for a minute.
  • Tomato chutney in Maharashtrian style is ready. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
