Tomato Chutney In Maharashtrian Style
Chopped tomato cooked with jaggery, garlic, garam masala and other ingredients

- 1 no Tomato chopped
- 1/2 tsp Garlic chopped
- 1 no Onion chopped, small
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
- 1/2 tsp Jaggery/Sugar
- 3 nos Curry leaves – 2
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp Roasted peanut powder
- Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
- Oil As reqd
First heat oil in a pan, fry onion, garlic, cumin seeds, jaggery, chilly powder and tomatoes.
Grind the mixture when it cools.
Heat tawa, splutter mustards seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add garam masala and ground paste and stir for a few minutes.
Add little water and salt. Mix well and add roasted peanut powder. Cook for a minute.
Tomato chutney in Maharashtrian style is ready. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
