Ingredients
  

  • 2 nos Fish fillets
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • 3 nos Red chilly
  • ½ tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 nos Onion finely chopped
  • 2 to Green chilies slited
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • ½ tsp Black pepper powder
  • 50 g Oil
  • Salt As reqd
  • Banana leaves

Instructions
 

  • For preparing fish fillets smoked in banana leaves, marinate the fish pieces in salt and lemon juice. Keep aside.
  • Remove the seeds of red chillies and soak in vinegar for 15 minutes and grind well adding little vinegar and mustard seeds. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute chopped onion adding, salt and turmeric powder. Saute till transparent.
  • Add the ground paste into onion and fry till the oil seperates. Add pepper powder.
  • Immerse the banana leaves in hot water for 2 minutes and drain.
  • Rub the masala paste over the fish pieces and wrap in the banana leaves. Tie it with banana plant fiber(vazha naaru).
  • do the same with other fish piece also.
  • Place a griddle on fire and place the fish packets. Cook both sides finely in low flame.
  • Fish fillets smoked in banana leaves is ready to serve with rice.
