To make kondattam at home:
1)Slice the bitter gourd into thin round pieces.
Make a batter with curd, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt.
Mix the sliced bitter gourd with the batter and dry in sun for 3 to 4 days.
Note: As pavakka is mixed with curd, it tastes better and not bitter.
For preparation of kichadi:
1)Chop onion, green chillies, curry leaves, salt and mix it with curd.
Fry Kondattom and mix it with the curd.
Take a pan and pour coconut oil. Splutter mustard seeds and add red chillies and curry leaves. Pour it over the curd mixture.
Close the kichadi with lid for 5 minutes for the flavor.
Serve with rice or rice items.
Note:
1)No cooking in fire required except to fry kondattam and kaduku varuval.
2)You can avoid kaduku varuval and pour some fresh coconut oil over the top and close the lid.
Forget about kaduku varuval or coconut oil. It tastes better even without those.
