Broken Wheat Upma

Broken wheat cooked with veggies to make upma

Ingredients
  

  • 50 g Cracked/broken wheat Gothambu nurukku
  • 50 g Spinach finely chopped
  • 50 g Drumstick leaves Muringa ela
  • 1/2 cup Coconut grated
  • 1/2 cup Onion finely chopped
  • Ginger a small piece, finely chopped
  • 2 nos Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Split black gram Uzhunnu parippu
  • Oil As reqd
  • 1 1/2 cup Water
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash the broken wheat and allow it to drain.
  • Take a pressure cooker and pour oil. Heat the oil. Splutter mustard seeds and black gram dal.
  • Add chopped spinach, drumstick leaves, grated coconut, chopped onion, ginger, green chillies and required salt. Saute for sometime.
  • Add broken wheat and stir for sometime.
  • Add 1 1/2 cup water and close the pressure cooker. Cook for 1 whistle.
  • Broken wheat upma is ready and serve hot.
