Goan Fish Xacuti

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Fish fish with firm white flesh preferred
  • 2 nos Onions chopped
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 7 nos Pepper corns
  • 1 small Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 3 nos Cloves
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg powder
  • 3 nos Cardamom pods Elakka
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp Cummin powder
  • 1/2 tbsp White vinegar
  • 3 tbsp Coconut(grated0 grated0
  • Oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd
  • Coriander leaves As reqd for garnishing, chopped

Instructions
 

  • Roast the spices: pepper corns, cinnamon, cloves and poppy seeds. Grind into a powder and keep aside.
  • Take a frying pan and pour oil. Heat the oil and fry chopped onions.
  • Add the ginger and garlic pastes and saute in low heat for some time.
  • Add the previously prepared spice powder, turmeric, cummin, nutmeg, chilly powder, coriander powder, coconut, vinegar and required salt. Saute for sometime till oil accumulates on top.
  • Add two cups water to the above mixture and stir well. Bring to boil.
  • Lower the flame and add the fish pieces one by one. Cover with a lid and cook till the fish pieces are done.
  • Remove from fire and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Goan fish xacuti is ready and serve hot.
