Peas Pulao - Very Simple

Fresh green peas mixed with basmati rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 cup Fresh green peas
  • 1 no Onion finely sliced
  • 1 no Green chilly slit
  • 3 tbsp Oil/ghee
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick broken in half
  • 4 nos Cloves
  • 1 cup Coconut milk optional, If adding coconut milk, then reduce the water quantity to 2 cups
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Soak the basmati rice in 2 cups of water.
  • Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add cinnamon sticks and cloves. Saute for a few seconds.
  • Add the onion and green chillies. Saute till the onions start changing color.
  • Now add the green peas and saute till they are half done.
  • Drain rice from water and add to the onion mixture. Saute for 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the rice-soaked water and coconut milk(if being used). Add salt to taste and cover with a lid. Cook for just one whistle.
  • Let the steam settle by itself. Mix well and serve hot with some spicy curry.
