Malabar Mutton Curry With Diced Potatoes

Mutton curry prepared in traditional style with diced potatoes added to it.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Mutton
  • 1 no Onions sliced, big
  • 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 2 no Green chillies sliced
  • 1/2 inch Ginger ground
  • 4 flakes Garlic ground
  • 1/4 tsp Aniseed ground
  • 2 nos Clove
  • 2 nos Cinnamon 2 cm pieces
  • 2 nos Cardamon
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 no Tomatoes cut into cubes, medium
  • 1 no Potatoes cut into cubes, medium
  • Coriander leaves A small bunch, chopped
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Cut the mutton into medium sized pieces.
  • Rub the following ingredients on the mutton pieces and leave for 20 minutes. The ingredients include: sliced onions, chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, green chillies, ground ginger, ground garlic, ground aniseed and required salt.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and add cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods and curry leaves.
  • Fry on low heat and add the marinated mutton pieces, one by one and fry on both sides.
  • Put the fried mutton pieces back into the pan and add cubed tomatoes and potatoes. Pour a little water and cover the vessel and cook on low heat.
  • When the gravy has acquired a thick consistency, add coriander leaves and remove from fire.
  • Malabar mutton curry, a traditional favorite, is ready.
  • Tips:- 1)This delicacy is a traditional favorite of Malabar and can be used for lunch and dinner.
  • Ample use of coriander leaves and aniseed is the speciality of this dish.
