Lime Rasam

Rasam prepared with lemon juice

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tbsp Toor dal Tumara parippu
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cummin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • 1 no Lemon
  • 1 no Green chillies slit
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Asafoetida powder A pinch, Kayam
  • Sugar As reqd
  • Oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash and cook toor dal in a pressure cooker with sufficient water until smooth.
  • Add black pepper powder, turmeric powder, green chilly and water to the mashed dal.
  • Allow the rasam to boil for a few minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and squeeze the lemon into the rasam.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and cummin seeds. Add a pinch of asafoetida powder and pour this into the rasam.
  • Lime rasam is ready and serve hot with rice.
