Preheat the oven to 170C and grease a 8 inch spring form cake tin.
Place whole oranges in a medium pan and add enough hot water to cover it and bring to boil.
:- Simmer till soft - (This takes about two hours).
In the meantime, powder almond in a processor.
Beat eggs and sugar till light and fluffy.
Remove the oranges, remove the seeds and white pith. Cut into smaller sections and (along with the rind) pulse it in a blender till smooth.
6)Add the ground almond, pulsed orange mix, baking powder and vanilla essence to the egg mixture and combine well.
Bake at 170cßfor 1 hour.Stand in pan for 30 minutes and then turn it on wire rack .
8)Pierce holes on top of the cake and pour over the lime syrup.
To make Lime Syrup : In a small pan, combine all the ingredients, stir over heat without boiling until sugar is dissolved. Simmer without stirring for 5 minutes until thickened.
