Palak Paneer - Delicious

A North Indian delight made of palak and paneer

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Paneer cubes
  • 4 bunches Palak
  • 3 nos Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 5 nos Green chillies chopped
  • 1 no Tomato chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 2 pinch Fenugreek powder roasted, uluva
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder roasted
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • Oil as reqd
  • Salt as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Take palak leaves(without the stem), wash it properly and steam cook it for 20 minutes.
  • Cool the cooked palak leaves and grind it into a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and fry paneer cubes until they attain a light yellow colour.
  • Drain the fried paneer cubes from the oil and put it into a bowl of hot water.
  • Keep it in the hot water for sometime and then squeeze it. :- This will help the paneer cubes to remain soft even after frying.
  • In the same oil, saute chopped onion and green chillies by adding salt.
  • When the onion becomes soft, add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and cumin powder.
  • Fry for 2 minutes and add palak paste along with roasted fenugreek powder and garam masala.
  • Add little water to it and bring it to boil.
  • Add paneer cubes and keep it in a low flame till the gravy thickens (15 to 20 minutes).
  • :- Serve hot with roti or plain rice!!!
