Banana Skin - Moong Thoran

Tasty and healthy dish made out of moong and raw banana skin

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Skin of raw Banana
  • 1/2 cup Moong
  • 1 cup Coconut grated
  • 3 nos Green chillies
  • 3 pods Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 2 spring Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 4 nos Dry red chillies
  • Salt as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash and cook moong. :- The moong should be cooked well, but not get mashed.
  • Drain it and keep it aside.
  • Chop banana skin and wash it in water mixed with turmeric powder.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add curry leaves, red chilli, chopped banana skin along with little turmeric powder and salt.
  • Sprinkle little water over it and cover it with a lid and cook till its done.
  • Grind coconut along with green chillies, garlic, cumin and turmeric powder without adding water. :- The masala should be of dry consistency.
  • When the banana skin is cooked, add coconut masala and cooked moong.
  • Mix it well and cover it and cook it in a low flame for about 10 minutes.
  • :- Remove from fire and serve hot with rice.
  • :- The dish should be dry.
