Dal Kichadi Easy

Easy recipe of rice and lentil which is also a wholesum meal

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Moong Dal
  • 3/4 cup Basmathi/Long grain rice
  • 1 no Onion chopped
  • 1 nos Potato chopped, medium size
  • 1 no Carrot chopped, medium size
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 3 nos Green chillies chopped thin
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Wash dal and rice together and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add cumin seeds stir fry for a few seconds, followed by onions and chillies and stir for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add cut vegetables, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt along with water.
  • Pressure cook upto 1 whistle.
  • :- Serve hot!!!!
  • ps: You can even omit onions, cumin seeds, green chillies and the oil and just simply pressure cook all the rest of ingredients. You could also add any vegetable of your choice. It even works without the vegetables! The authentic dal rice looks mashed for which you could add another cup of water, but i prefer it not mashed much!
