Tamil Nadu Chicken Gravy

chicken cooked in tamil nadu style is a yummy dish with Spicy gravy that goes well with rice n briyani.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Chicken
  • 1 cup Small onions Kunjulli
  • 1 no Onion big
  • 2 nos Tomato
  • 4 nos Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp Grated cocount
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • 2 nos Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 4 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 2 nos Cardamom Elakka
  • 1/2 tsp Aniseeds Perinjeerakam
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds Khashakhasha
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 5 nos Peppercorns
  • Coriander leaves A few
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Clean chicken and cut into small pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add green chillies(cut into two halves) and saute for few mins. Keep it aside.
  • In the same pan, add small onions and saute for few mins.
  • Add cinnamom, cloves, cardamom, aniseeds, cumin seeds, poppy seeds and pepper corns one by one and fry them for few mins.
  • Add turmeric and coriander powder and saute.
  • Finally, add coconut and a few coriander leaves.
  • Switch off the flame.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Grind it along with green chillies into a fine paste.
  • Cut big onion and tomato into small pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add onion, ginger-garlic paste and fry until it turns golden brown.
  • Add curry leaves.
  • Add tomato and saute till it blends well.
  • Add masala paste and saute for 10 minutes.
  • Add chicken pieces.
  • Cover and cook on low flame till chicken cooks.
  • :- There is no need to add water. If u want, u can add some water to masala that remains in mixer grinder and add that water to chicken and cook.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
