Kerala Shrimp Curry

Spicy shrimp curry

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Shrimps Chemmeen
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped
  • 2 nos Tomato chopped
  • 4 - Garlic pods finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp Tamarind extract
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds, green chilies and garlic and sautT.
  • Add the onions and saute until brown.
  • Add tomatoes and let it cook in simmering heat.
  • Add the tamarind extract. Let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and allow them to blend with the mixture.
  • Add the shrimps and salt.
  • Close the lid and cook for 15 mins.
  • Once it is cooked, turn off the heat.
  • Garnish with cilantro leaves.
  • :- Serve hot with rice.
