North Indian Fish Masala

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Fish
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4th of Coriander leaves
  • 1 no Tomato
  • 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 4 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 4 nos Cardamom Elakka
  • 1" piece Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2 nos Onion big
  • 1/4th cup Curd
  • Mustard seeds A pinch
  • 2 nos Garlic pods
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • 1) Clean and cut the fish.
  • Marinate them in chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt for 1/2 hr.
  • Shallow fry the marinated fish pieces and keep them aside.
  • Roast and grind cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and cumin.
  • Grind together roasted spices, mustard seeds and half the sliced onions.
  • Heat oil.
  • Add the remaining sliced onions, garlic, ground spices and a pinch of turmeric powder and fry well.
  • Add sliced tomatoes, tomato ketchup, salt and saute till they are cooked.
  • Add well beaten curd and 1 cup water and simmer for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Add fried fish pieces and continue simmering for another 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
