Tur Dal Parippu Curry

A twist to the traditional parippu curry tasty and time saving, made with tur dal or sambar parippu.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 2 tbsp Pearl onions minced, Kunjulli
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 3 - Garlic pods
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 nos Green chillies slit
  • 2 tbsp Dry coconut powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder Jeerakam

Instructions
 

  • Cook the dal with enough water, salt, turmeric, garlic and green chillies in the pressure cooker until dal is soft and mushy.
  • Heat 1/2 the ghee in a pan.
  • Fry the minced pearl onions until soft.
  • Add the curry leaves and saute.
  • Add the cooked dal and bring to a rapid boil.
  • Add the coconut powder and cumin powder.
  • Add water to your like and adjust the seasonings.
  • When it boils well, remove from fire.
  • :- Serve with rice and papad and top with remaining ghee.
