North Indian Style Rajma Masala

A simple and easy Rajma masala

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rajma
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tbsp Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped, large
  • 1 tsp Green chillies finely chopped
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 no Tomato finely chopped, large
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder

Instructions
 

  • Soak rajma overnight and cook them in a pressure cooker till soft so that it can be half mashed using a wooden ladle.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Splutter cumin seeds.
  • Add garlic and sautT till brown.
  • Add ginger and sautT.
  • Add onion and sautT well followed by green chilly.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder and sautT them.
  • :- Reduce fire while adding spices.
  • Add tomato and salt and sautT till oil appears and tomatoes are well cooked and mashed.
  • Add cumin powder and rajma and cook on slow fire till done.
  • Gently mash rajma using wooden ladle.
  • :- Don¦t mash it too much.
  • Garnish with plenty of coriander leaves.
