Paalak Erissery

A Kerala style paalak curry

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 1 bunch Paalak coarsly chopped
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 2 nos Small onions Kunjulli
  • 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Pressure cook dhal with water and turmeric powder.
  • Add paalak, salt and chilly powder to the cooked dhal and allow it to boil.
  • Grind together coconut, cumin seeds, shallots and green chillies wth little water.
  • Add this to the dal and continue to boil for about 5 mins.
  • Season with mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves in cocount oil.
  • :- Serve hot with rice.
