Drumstick Masala Poriyal

Drumstick Masala Poriyal is a tasty vegetarian side dish prepared from the green, long and slender vegetable commonly available in almost all shops. Termed Muringakka in native language, drumsticks are very nutritious loaded with plenty of nutrients and antioxidants. Drumstick Masala Poriyal requires very little time and effort for preparation and should be included in your menu chart for a long healthy life. Drumstick pieces are coated in thick onion masala gravy and this Super Food combo pairs well with white hot rice. The spiciness and flavour of Drumstick Masala Poriyal can be adjusted as per individual requirement. While chewing drumsticks, extract the juice and pulp omitting the thick fibrous outer part. Enjoy the dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 nos Drumsticks Muringakkai
  • 2 nos Onions big
  • 2 nos Tomato
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 3/4 tsp Red chilli powder
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Coriander leaves A few
  • Salt As reqd
  • 3 tsp Oil

For grinding:-

  • 1 no Onion big

Instructions
 

  • Cut drumsticks into 2 inch pieces.
  • Cut onions into small pieces.
  • Cut tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Heat oil in a kadai or pan.
  • Add finely chopped onions and curry leaves fry for 8 mins.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and fry for 3 mins.
  • Add drumstick and fry for 4 mins.
  • Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
  • Pour just enough water to cover the pieces and close the lid.
  • When it is half cooked, add salt and close the lid.
  • When drumsticks are cooked, add the ground onion paste and cook till dry.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve hot.
