Beef Olathiyathu

Kerala style spicy dish!!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Beef
  • 2 nos Onion
  • 1 no Tomato
  • 1 piece Ginger
  • 4 - Garlic pods
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Pepper powder
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • Salt As reqd
  • 3 tbsp Coconut/Sunflower oil

For the Masala:-

  • 2 nos Cinnamon pieces Karugapatta
  • Fennel seeds A pinch, Perinjeerakam
  • 3 - Cloves Grambu
  • 2 - Cardamom Elakka
  • 5 - Peppercorns Kurumulaku

Instructions
 

  • Clean the beef and cut it into small pieces.
  • Grind together the ingredients for masala and add 2 tsp of water to it to make it into a paste.
  • Put the meat into a pressure cooker.
  • Add ground masala, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chillY powder, pepper powder and salt.
  • :- Do not add water.
  • Cook till meat becomes tender.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add chopped onions and curry leaves and saute till onion turns golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies.
  • Add tomato and saute well.
  • Add cooked beef to this and fry.
  • Fry till the gravy gets dried completely.
  • Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve with steamed rice/fried rice/chappathis.
