Mathappoo Thoran

Mathapoo Thoran is a traditional styled delicious stir fry prepared from pumpkin flowers or Mathapoo. Tasty, healthy and very nutritious Mathapoo Thoran goes perfect with hot rice for your noon day meals. Mathapoo Thoran is unique and special packed with extra nutrients. Ingredients
  

  • 15 nos Pumpkin flowers Mathappoo
  • 1/2 of Coconut
  • 4 nos Green chillies
  • 1/2 cup Small onions Kunjulli
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Salt As reqd
  • 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 3 nos Small onions – 2 finely chopped for seasoning, Kunjulli

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Mathapoo Thoran, first clean the flowers well and chop them finely.
  • Mix together the above finely chopped flowers, grated coconut, chopped green chillies, chopped small onions and salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies, curry leaves and finely chopped small onions.
  • Add the mathappoo-coconut mixture and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on a low flame.
  • Stir occasionally.
  • When done, remove the lid and continue to cook, till done.
  • Mathapoo Thoran a highly nutritious dish is ready.
