For preparing Chembin Thal Thoran, first cut the stem lengthwise and peel off its outer skin.
Clean it well and chop it finely.
Add a little salt to it and using your hands, mix it well.
Squeeze well enough and discard the thick serum which oozes out while doing so.
Place the grated coconut, green chillies, small onions, turmeric powder and curry leaves in a mixer bowl and run it once to make a coarse form.
Mix together the finely chopped thal and the coconut mixture.
Add salt and mix well again.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies and curry leaves.
Add the mixture into the pan and mix well.
Cover and cook for a few mins.
Lower the flame and stir occasionally.
When it gets cooked, remove the lid and continue cooking, till done.
Chembin Thal Thoran, a nutrition rich side dish is ready.
