Kerala Style Cherupayar Curry

Cherupayar curry without garlic and garam masala

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Green gram Cherupayar
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped, large
  • 1 no Tomato finely chopped, large
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 2 1/2 tbsp Sambar powder
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • 1/4 cup Coconut milk
  • Salt As reqd
  • 2 - Oil

Instructions
 

  • Soak daal overnight.
  • Cook it in a pressure cooker.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Fry onion, until it becomes golden brown.
  • Add green chillies and tomatoes and saute.
  • Add the cooked daal and a little water, if necessary.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Add turmeric powder and sambar powder.
  • Stir well and allow it to boil.
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Add coconut milk and stir well.
