Naadan Green Peas Curry With Coconut Milk

Nadan Green Peas Curry is a tasty vegetarian side dish usually served with appam, Idiyappam, porotta, dosa and chappathi. It is is an aromatic, rich and vegetarian subzi made with fresh peas and coconut milk. Cooked green peas blended in spice flavored coconut gravy makes a perfect combo for breakfast and dinner dishes. Green peas are nutritious and healthy, packed with cholesterol lowering fibre and essential minerals. This hearty and delicious curry is ideal for a busy weeknight dinner, entertaining or taking along to a potluck. Since it is vegan and gluten-free, it is suitable for many people with special diets. The best part of this recipe is that it neither requires more grinding nor a longer cooking process. This recipe needs , basic spices, coconut spice mixture and 20 minutes of your time to get it done. Nadan Green Peas Curry is a very simple and unique dish with no requirement of pre-sautéing of ingredients. There can’t be any curry easier than this, yet tastes exotic and tasty. This is a simple curry which makes a delicious, quick and easy to prepare side dish for chapathi, poori, bahtura, appam, idiyappam etc

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Green peas
  • Ginger chopped
  • 1 - Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1/2 of Onion Sliced thinly
  • 2 nos Green chillies split
  • 1 no Tomato chopped
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 cup Thick coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • Cardamom powder A pinch
  • 1 pinch Cloves powder Grambu
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Soak peas overnight.
  • Place peas, ginger, garlic, onion, chillies, tomato, coriander powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder, water and salt in a pressure cooker.
  • Pressure cook upto 7 - 8 whistles or about 10 mins.
  • Allow it to cool for a while.
  • Open the cooker and place it on fire.
  • Add coconut milk, cardamom powder and cloves powder.
  • Add water, if needed.
  • Allow it to boil.
  • Add curry leaves and coconut oil.
  • :- Serve hot with appam, dosa, chappathi etc.
