Dal Rice

A mixture of vegetables, dal and rice

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 3/4 cup Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 1 1/2 cups Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 1/2 cup Peas
  • 1 no Potato finely chopped
  • 1 no Carrot finely chopped
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped
  • 1 no Tomato finely chopped
  • 4 nos Green chillies finely chopped
  • 2 nos Red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Boil potato, carrot and peas.
  • Cook rice separately and allow to cool.
  • Cook Bengal gram and red gram with a pinch of turmeric powder and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Splutter musturd seeds and cumin seeds.
  • Add curry leaves, green chillies, red chillies, onion and saute for sometime.
  • Add tomato and allow to cook for a minute.
  • Add boiled vegetables along with salt and turmeric powder and fry for a while.
  • Mix this with cooked dals and rice.
  • :- Serve with any raitha and chips.
