Kerala Simple Fish Fry(Meen)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg King fish
  • 2 tbsp Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/4 tsp Fennel seeds Perinjeerakam
  • 1/4 tsp Amchoor powder can add a tsp of vinegar or tamarind pulp instead, Dry mango powder
  • 1 no Onion sliced, medium
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

  • Clean and cut fish into medium pieces.
  • Grind together all powders, salt and fennel seeds along with a tsp of oil and a little water into a smooth paste.
  • Marinate the fish with the above masala for atleast 1/2 an hr.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Deep fry the marinated fish.
  • When the fish gets half cooked, add 1/4 of the sliced onions.
  • Fry, till the onions turn golden brown.
  • :- Serve hot as a starter.
