North Indian Peas Pulao

Green peas and Basmati rice with mild spices

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 200 gm Green peas fresh or frozen
  • 1 no Onion thinly sliced, medium
  • 1 no Tomato thinly sliced, medium
  • Mint leaves A few, Pudhina
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 6 nos Green chillies thinly sliced
  • Spices: crushed
  • 2 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 2 sticks Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 2 nos Cardamom Elakka

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak rice for 20 mins. Allow it to drain.
  • Heat oil in a cooker or a pan.
  • Season the crushed spices.
  • Add onion and fry, till it becomes golden brown.
  • Add peas, tomato, green chillies, mint and coriander leaves and fry, till it becomes soft.
  • Add rice and saute for 2 - 3 mins.
  • Add 3 cups of water and salt.
  • Pressure cook upto 1 whistle or shift the contents to the microwave container and cook it in full power for 10 - 15 mins.
