Morkozhambu or Kadi

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Whipped Buttermilk Moru
  • 2 tsp Gram flour Kadalamavu
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 4 - Green chillies split
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
  • 1 tsp Oil

Optional:

  • Fried Lady`s finger(Vendakka)
  • OR
  • Fried Black gram(Uzhunnuparippu) made like small bondas

Instructions
 

  • Mix together 1/4 cup of buttermilk and gram flour or besan.
  • Add the remaining butter milk and mix well again.
  • Add turmeric and salt to the buttermilk.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, split chillies and allow them to splutter.
  • Tear the curry leaves and add to the buttermilk mixture.
  • Pour the oil over the buttermilk mixture.
  • Simmer for 3 - 5 mins, until thick.
  • Add the optional items at the end and allow to soak for 5 - 10 mins.
