Chalna is a nutritious dish cooked in a mixture of dals and chicken/mutton bones. Chalna is unique and tasty with thick spicy gravy. Measure equal amount of both dals and pressure cook unto four whistles along with mutton or chicken bones, 1/4 cup onions, ginger-garlic paste, half cup tomato (sliced into big chunks) and bay leaf. Cook and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Saute cinnamon, clove and curry leaves.
Add chopped half cup onions and tomatoes and saute well.
When it is done, add chilly powder and coriander powder.
Add brinjal and cook, until it becomes tender.
Stir in mango chunks. Add the previously cooked dal and mutton mixture. Simmer for 10 mins.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
