Parippu Curry Easy

Parippu or Dal curry

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Parippu Lentils/Dal
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 no Onion diced & divided into half, medium
  • 1 tsp Ginger sliced
  • 1 stick Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 5 - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Dried red pepper As reqd
  • 1 cup Thick coconut milk
  • Salt As reqd
  • Lime As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash the parippu, until the water is clear.
  • Put parippu in pan and cover with water (water should be 1/2 inch above the lentils.)
  • Add turmeric, half the onion, ginger, cinnamon stick and curry leaves.
  • Cover and boil, until water is absorbed.
  • Take off the flame and place in a bowl.
  • Heat ghee in the pan.
  • Fry the remaining onions & dried red pepper.
  • Cook, until pale golden colour.
  • Combine cooked parippu, the mixture & coconut milk.
  • Return to flame and warm through.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Finish with a squeeze of lime & stir.
  • :- Serve with rice & curries.
