Pineapple Kaalan

Pineapple cooked with coconut and mixed with curd

Ingredients
  

  • Pineapple (cut into small pieces)
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/2 cup Shredded coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2-3 tsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • 4 - Red chillies Kollamulaku
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1/2 cup Curd

Instructions
 

  • Cook pineapple in water along with chilly powder, turmeric powder, green chillies and salt.
  • Grind together coconut, cumin seeds and a pinch pf turmeric powder.
  • Add this to the cooked pineapple and cook again on low flame.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and when they splutter, add cumin seeds followed by fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and broken red chillies.
  • Once the pineapple is cooked, add whipped or beaten curd and mix well.
  • :- Don`t cook after or when adding curd. Hence, switch off the flame while adding curd.
  • Add the seasoning into the above mixture.
  • :- Serve hot or cold with plain rice.
