Green Chicken

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Chicken
  • 3 nos Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 nos Onions finely chopped
  • 1/4" piece Ginger chopped
  • Coriander leaves A bunch, chopped
  • 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 2 nos Green chillies chopped
  • 1 stick Cinnamom Karugapatta
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Garam masala optional
  • Salt As reqd
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil or butter

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Green Chicken, first clean the chicken and cut them into pieces.
  • Heat oil or butter in a large deep non-stick pan.
  • Add onions and saute` them until onions are soft and translucent.
  • Add cinnamon stick, chopped ginger, green chillies, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder. Fry them in low flame. Keep them aside.
  • Make a paste of coriander leaves and red chilly powder in a blender using water.
  • Add this paste to the onions-spices mixture and fry for a couple of minutes.
  • Add chopped tomatoes & salt to the mixture and cook on high heat for 3-4 minutes (till tomatoes are kind of mushy).
  • Add chicken pieces and a glass of water and bring to boil (takes about a minute or two).
  • When it starts to boil, lower the flame and allow it to cook for about 40 minutes. Stir occasionally. When the gravy is thick, remove Green Chicken curry from fire.
  • :- Serve Green Chicken hot with parathas or plain rice.
