Thulu Chicken curry is a tasty mangalorean preparation very unique in style and preparation. Fried coconut pieces are blended with natural spices to a fine paste. Chicken pieces are cooked in this blended mixture until the gravy is thick and aromatic. Thulu Chicken is uniquely prepared and the dish is spicy and delicious. For preparing Thulu Chicken, first heat 3 tbsp oil or ghee in a pan.
Fry red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black pepper seeds, fenugreek seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, garlic cloves, half of onion pieces and coconut pieces to a golden brown color. Blend the mixture along with tamarind mixture to a fine paste. Keep this mixture aside.
Clean the chicken and cut into pieces.
Marinate chicken pieces with the above mixture for 1/2 an hour.
Heat ghee oil in a pan.
Fry chopped onions and stir in the marinated chicken pieces. Add required salt and some water. Boil the curry and lower the flame when boiling starts.
When the gravy is thick and the chicken pieces are soft and succulent, remove Thulu Chicken from flame.
