Meen Thenga Ada | Fish Coconut Steamed Parcel

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Rice flour
  • Salt as required
  • 2 Cups Water

For Preparing Fish Masala:

  • 250 g Fish
  • 1 &1/2 Tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/4+1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Pepper powder
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Few Coriander leaves
  • Salt as required
  • Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Grated coconut
  • 1/4 Tsp Fennel seeds Perumjeerakam
  • 2 Nos. Onion Large
  • 1 Tsp Ginger garlic Crushed
  • 3 Nos. Green chilly

Instructions
 

  • Preparation for Fish Masala: Marinate the fish in 1 tsp red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt as required. Fry the fish and keep aside for cooling. Break the fried fish into small pieces.
  • Take a pan and add 1.5 tbsp coconut oil. Heat oil and add chopped onion, little salt, ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaves. Saute until onion turns light brown in color.
  • Simmer the flame and add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, pepper powder and saute until the raw smell leaves. 
  • Add ground coconut and fried fish pieces, chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for few minutes and remove it from the flame.

Preparation for Ada:

  • Boil 2 cups of water in a sauce pan adding little salt. In a bowl, add rice flour and pour the boiled water and mix well using a wooden spoon. Let it cool down for sometime and then knead it well to a soft and smooth dough, while it is still warm.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball in a banana leaf.
  • Add prepared fish masala on one side and gently fold over the other side and seal the edges (like adas..)..Repeat procedure with the remaining dough and fish masala. Place them in a steamer and steam cook for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve hot!
