Kerala Homemade Lemon Dates Pickle | Sweet And Sour Naaranga Achar

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Lemon
  • 1 cup Dates
  • 3/4 cup Ginger & garlic (Chopped)
  • 4 nos. Green chilly
  • 1/2 cup Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 3 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Chop lemon, dates, ginger and garlic.
  • Grind half of the chopped dates with 3 tbsp vinegar into a smooth fine paste.
  • Dry roast fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds for 3-4 minutes. Keep this aside.
  • Heat sesame oil in a vessel and add chopped ginger, garlic and green chillies. Saute it for 5 minutes in medium flame.
  • Then add lemon, remaining dates and dry roasted mustard & fenugreek seeds. Combine well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add previously prepared dates paste and mix well.
  • Add red chilly powder, salt and vinegar.
  • Combine well and remove from the flame. Let it cool and store in an airtight container for one week. After one week the pickle is ready for use.
