Squid Masala | Koonthal Masala

This is my first recipe with squid. Its a traditional koonthal masala recipe with several fresh spices that gives a unique aroma and flavour to this koonthal masala. It goes well with rice, chappathi etc..

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Squid/koonthal
  • 2 nos. Onion
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 4 nos. Green chilly
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 3 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • Curry leaves little
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Clean the squid and cut into ring shapes.
  • Marinate the squid in a mixture of red chilly powder, turmeric powder, crushed fennel seeds, salt and keep aside for 20 minutes.
  • Pressure cook it for one whistle and fry it in hot oil. Keep aside the fried squid rings.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and saute onion with salt until golden brown in colour.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato, sliced green chilly, curry leaves and saute again until the tomatoes get soft.
  • Add fried squid and sprinkle some garam masala. Mix it well and remove from the flame.
  • Tasty and spicy Koonthal Masala is ready now.
