Murungakkai Masala

A simple spicy murungakkai masala prepared with fresh drumsticks is a delicious Indian recipe served as a appetiser or side dish. I made this with as a side dish for rasam and dal. Murungakkai Masala recipe is a simple and delicious drumstick dry curry. Drumsticks are almost an integral part of South Indian cooking. I can’t think of any other veggie that imparts so much flavor to a dish.

Ingredients
  

  • Drumstick/ murungakkai 2 no.
  • onion 1 no.
  • tomato 1 no.
  • coconut 1/4 cup
  • fennel seed 1/4 tbsp
  • garlic 4 no.
  • ginger small piece
  • red chili powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions
 

  • Chop the onion and tomato and cut the drumstick in small pieces
  • take coconut, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel seed, ginger and garlic and make a fine paste
  • in a kadai heat the oil and saute the onion until it turn brown
  • add tomato and stir it
  • add grinned masala paste and mix it
  • add drumstick and allow to cook for 1 mins
  • now add 2 glass of water and allow to cook the drumstick until it get cooked well and dry the water
  • now murungakkai/ drumstic masalak is ready to serve
